Practical tips before installing wallpaper

Remember the wall must be:

  1. Free from cavities
  2. Degreased
  3. Primed
  4. Dry
  5. Free from dust and dirt
  6. In the case of walls in a wet zone, the wall should be covered with waterproofing

#1

The wallpaper is prepared with a 5cm / 2in margin

If your wallpaper has been prepared to a non-standard size, we have enlarged it on each side by 2.5cm / 1in to ensure full coverage of every edge of the wall and to avoid any differences caused by wall unevenness or measurement error.

#2

Check the type of material and the joints of the wallpaper panels

Before applying the wallpaper, check the material for consistency with your order, as well as the panel alignment and color. If the wallpaper has manufacturing defects, submit a complaint before installation. Wallpaper with manufacturing defects is not subject to complaint after installation.
AFTER INSTALLING THE WALLPAPER, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO COMPLAINT ABOUT MANUFACTURING DEFECTS!

#3

Cleaning the Wallpaper

Wallpapers not protected with the WET system should be wiped with a damp cloth; never scrub or use aggressive detergents. Once protected with the WET system, the wallpaper becomes more resistant to more intensive cleaning.

#4

Connecting several walls

The wallpaper is not tailored to individual walls. By default, the wallpaper is divided into equal sections. The excess on the left side is 2.5cm / 1in, and the excess on the right side is no less than 2.5cm / 1in, determined individually.

how to stick wallpaper

Before starting installation, make sure the wall is properly prepared – smooth, clean, dry, and primed . The color should be uniform, and fresh plaster or paint should be allowed to dry for at least 3 weeks .
Below you will find installation instructions for two types of wallpaper: PROWALL (non-woven wallpaper with glue) and WALLSTICK (self-adhesive wallpaper).

Step 1

WALL PREPARATION (for both types)

The wall must be smooth, dry, clean, and primed with an appropriate primer. The wall color should be uniform, without any strong contrasting areas. It is essential to remove any remnants of old paints, varnishes, and wallpaper. Freshly applied plaster or freshly painted walls should be allowed to dry for approximately three weeks. Ceramic and latex paints, as well as any surfaces with poor adhesion, should be sanded before priming. For a perfect finish, smooth out any gaps. Remember to remove all sockets, baseboards, and other elements from the wall. An improperly prepared wall can prevent proper wallpaper installation.

Step 2

Plan the wallpaper on the wall (for both types)

To install your wallpaper precisely, measure and draw a vertical line on the wall or mark it using a laser level. The line marked on the wall should match the width of the first strip of your wallpaper. Remember that the wallpaper has a 2.5cm/1in allowance on each side, and wallpapering always starts from the left, so the line marking the width of the first strip should be offset to the left by 2.5cm/1in.

Step 3

Applying glue to the wall (PROWALL SERIES ONLY)

Apply the adhesive only to the wall. To install the wallpaper, use a ready-made adhesive designed for heavy non-woven wallpaper. Apply a thin, even layer of adhesive to the wall using a paint roller or brush. Apply the adhesive to the wall only where the current strip is to be glued, extending approximately 5cm/2in beyond the strip. Do not cover the entire wall with adhesive at once.

Step 4

Wallpaper Installation

PROWALL (glue wallpaper):

Unroll the wallpaper from the bottom up and press it against the wall with a squeegee or roller, removing any air. Install each subsequent strip edge-to-edge (butt-to-edge), carefully matching the pattern. After application, press the edges with a rubber roller. If you get any glue on the wallpaper during installation, immediately wipe it off with a damp, soft cloth; do not scrub.

WALLSTICK (self-adhesive wallpaper):

Gradually separate the backing from the adhesive layer by rolling the wallpaper from top to bottom. Press it down with a squeegee, removing any air from beneath the surface. Glue subsequent sections flush with the wallpaper, matching the pattern.

After installation, the excess wallpaper (overhang) should be cut off using a segmented knife, pressing the edge of the wallpaper so as not to tear it when cutting.
